Role details:
My client has a long history of involvement in the Rail sector, covering both infrastructure and property. They have therefore developed an understanding of the issues involved in the successful delivery of infrastructure, stations and rail facilities. The project and asset management services they can offer are designed to create a balance between capital and revenue costs.
To help us meet our ambitious growth plans, we are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor based out of our Manchester, to work in the Transport team. The majority of projects undertaken in this team are rail and metro, and candidates will therefore ideally have rail or metro experience though with the correct attitude and drive, candidates with other such transport infrastructure and property knowledge would be of interest to the team.
This is an expanding and progressive division with investment planned in the coming months, so to be part of an exciting opportunity you should be seeking a long term career move and ultimately looking for us to develop your talents for you to rapidly progress to the next level.
You will:
• Be Manchester based, but willing to work closely with other members of the team around the region, so some regional travel will be required.
• Be willing and comfortable working within a Team environment providing a range of Quantity Surveying duties from project inception through to completion.
• Complete Pre-contract work – Estimating/ Bill production etc
• Have a sound working knowledge of sustainability issues, life cycle costing and risk and value management.
• Be client facing and form part of our Rail delivery team, so excellent customer facing skills will be required
The Ideal Candidate will have:
• A BSc in Quantity Surveying and/or is a member for the RICS or equivalent.
• Consultancy background (preferred but not 100% needed), with experience of Pre-contract work – Estimating/ Bill production
• Rail Experience – Civil’s, P-Way, Signalling, OLE – recognising may not be experienced in all these disciplines
• A willingness to continue to develop your career through our structured training programme.
• Great interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate effectively (both internally and with Clients), and a willingness and determination to progress your career quickly.
