PURPOSE OF ROLE
To provide assistance, technical support and co-ordinate the Traffic Regulation, Signing and Management workload of the Traffic team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To produce and update at regular intervals Consolidation Orders relating to on-street parking.
2. To undertake investigations relating to the implementation of Traffic Regulation Orders including:
 public consultation
 liaison with emergency services
 formation and presentation of recommendations to Committee
 drafting of legal orders (in co-operation with the Legal Department)
 posting of public notices
 collation of objections
 supervision of installation
3. To liaise with the Legal Department and local associations in respect of the provision of hackney carriage ranks.
4. To consult with internal and external applicants and to organise, in co-operation with the Legal Department, with regard to temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.
5. To supply relevant information to internal and external agencies.
6. To design sign faces as required and to co-ordinate signed routes.
7. To offer advice on warning, regulatory and cycle signs and road markings.
8. To advise on Chapter 8 and diversionary signing.
9. To provide co-ordination when dealing with requests for signing to new development, temporary and neighbourhood watch signing schemes.
10. To investigate and provide advice on the implementation and design of bus priority measures.
11. To co-ordinate the response with regard to applications for HGV operating centres.
12. To liaise and advise on highway issues relating to level crossings.
13. To provide co-ordination for events on the highway.
14. To undertake assessment of the need for pedestrian facilities and to supply advice on the design of such facilities (excluding signalised facilities).
15. To investigate the provision and supply guidance on the design of facilities for people with mobility handicaps.

Requirements:

You will have demonstrable technical skills through relevant education to HNC/HND/degree level coupled with membership of an appropriate professional discipline OR equivalent experience and training.

You will have the skills to maintain and monitor expenditure within allocated budgets.

Communication and presentational skills to explain proposals to individual members of the public and at public meetings.

You will possess strong negotiating skills in dealing with requests.
